Starke, located just north of Gainesville, is the county seat of Bradford County. Other towns in Bradford County include Lawtey, Hampton, Brooker and Graham. Bradford County’s population is approximately 28,000.

Locally, Bradford County is known for having the "Sweetest Strawberries this side of heaven." Despite its small size (approximately 7 square miles), Starke has made it to the big screen, with movies such as Basic, starring John Travolta, and G.I. Jane, starring Demi Moore, filmed there.

A man was driving a motorcycle south on State Road 21 in Bradford County. At the same time, a man delivering pizzas was driving north on State Road 21. The pizza delivery driver turned left into a driveway directly in front of the plaintiff’s motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to collide with the car. The man driving the motorcycle suffered tremendous personal injuries, the most traumatic being the amputation of his right leg above the knee.

A woman was driving south on State Road 200 at the intersection of State Road 16 in Starke, Florida. At the same time, a man was attempting to turn left from State Road 16 onto State Road 200 when he hit the passenger’s side of the woman’s vehicle. The man was working as an employee for a transportation company at the time of the accident. The woman’s personal injuries included a herniated cervical disc requiring surgical fusion, neck and back pain.

$26,429.00 Award for Woman Injured in “T-Bone” Car Accident – May, 1991

A 21-year-old woman was traveling north on the freeway when she pulled into the median to make a U-turn. As she completed her turn into the southbound lane, her vehicle was struck by a Florida Highway Patrol car. The Florida Highway Patrol officer claimed he was responding to an emergency call. The plaintiff’s counsel successfully argued that the Florida Highway Patrol was negligent for not using the vehicle’s siren and flashing lights and driving over the speed limit. The young woman suffered a laceration to her liver, requiring an emergency laparotomy.
